Here in the northern lower peninsula of Michigan, massive cell towers are being erected within the wooded landscape. Appearing dramatically out of place, the juxtaposition is jarring. Sometimes the new arrivals don’t always fit right in.

Medium: Oil on primed wood with walnut oil used as thinner. To create the juxtaposition between the foreground and the wooded hillside, the trees were painted to suggest the distance. New Arrivals has been framed in dappled gold and black.
