About the Artist
Trisha Shattuck
Northern Michigan Artist
Preferred medium: Oils on canvas
Supports: Primed 3x, heavy duck canvas, museum wrapped and stapled.
Stretchers: Heavy-Duty should have been my middle name.
Education: BLA – Michigan State University – Working with the landscape as an art form is the dynamic medium. Didn’t Monet say he was most proud of his gardens?Wayne State University -I dabbled in printmaking, sculpture, drawing & painting. Michigan State University – lithography & landscape architecture.
Regarding styles: Visual movement in a static piece interests me. I strive to lead the eye throughout my canvases. Paintings where the viewer stands and ponders the piece excel in comparison to a piece that can be understood in a moment. Representational artwork if fine, but abstract expressionism without preconceptions, is an adventure.
“I gravitate to the Mystery that reveals itself on the surface of a developing canvass.”
