About the Artist

Trisha Shattuck
Northern Michigan Artist

Preferred medium: Oils on canvas
Supports: Primed 3x, heavy duck canvas, museum wrapped and stapled.
Stretchers: Heavy-Duty should have been my middle name.

Education: BLA – Michigan State University – Working with the landscape as an art form is the dynamic medium. Didn’t Monet say he was most proud of his gardens?Wayne State University -I dabbling in printmaking, sculpture, drawing & painting while also doing some studying. Michigan State University – lithography.

Regarding styles: Visual movement in a static piece interests me. I strive to lead the eye throughout my canvases conveying a journey that the viewer takes. Paintings where the viewer stands and ponders the piece excel in comparison to a piece that can be read in a moment. Representational artwork if fine, but abstract expressionism without preconceptions, is an exciting adventure. Interacting with the Mystery of Creativity humbles me. Though I am a Seeker, I allow myself to be lead.

“I’m addicted to interacting with the Mystery that reveals itself on the surface of the developing canvass.”
